Michael Beutler intervenes in public as well as the exhibition space in reacting upon existing architectural conditions with installations out of building materials which create an entirely different atmosphere. For their processing Beutler constructs and builds machinerie which do not work according to technically elaborate procedures but utilise simple methods of treating the material. Its formal shape and primal function remain visibily intact. Not only means to an end the machinerie form mostly part of the presentation in the exhibition space.
Not least through its dimensions Beutler’s mobile Shaker intervenes in space. Aluminium profiles were mangled flat and positioned in a way that six profiles hanging on a piece of wood at a time form a curtain, reaching from ceiling to floor and with an adjustable aptitude. The reflected light is refracted between the silver shiny elements and stresses the sensual aesthetic qualities of Shaker.
