Critique of the found, predefined space and her own situation as artist is impetus for Monica Bonvicini’s artistic production. Her installations and objects repeat presence amended by her own critique. The everyday as point of departure remains visible, utilising the human body as means of transformation.

The red combination pliers has lost its function: The seizing tip has been covered in black plastic and is thus seperated from its use value. The object can be grasped anew, as the frigid simplicity of its surface lends the pliers a new physical form, an integrity which is nearly violently opposed to the hand which reaches for it. The object asserts itself against its function.
