Walter Dahn's objects, drawings, paintings and prints often form little series. They go back to a modulating idea out of which a number of works evolve, one after the other. The pictorial language of the works follows an idea of simplicity and favours short formulas. Consequently Dahn's works depict simple abstract or figurative forms, text fragments or short sayings, as in one of the works made for the Kunstverein song titles of the American singer Bob Dylan. In depicting an accountant with dogteeth who does not just take the money given to him but actually bites the whole hand for example, he formulates a precise statement which is softened by the dotted background to a truth of not yet concrete moments. For the Kunstverein Dahn has made seven unique paintings.
