The Journal for Northeast Issues by the Hamburger Projektgruppe, founded by Monika Wucher and Christoph Rauch, conjoins various artistic works which engage in geographic concepts, urban planning and cultural politics, and which claim the openness of public and social urban space. Current movements to revitalize towns or certain regions, usage of space and urban development increasingly draw upon art. What are the expectations art is confronted with? What are the possibilities to shape and realize one’s own ideas of its area of influence within those parameter? The Journal for Northeast Issues explores artistic practices, which develop self-determined, collective strategies in the context of artgeographical issues of the present day.
