Thorsten Brinkmann

Mappelpipe, 2015

1800* Euro

Thorsten Brinkmann’s (*1971 in Herne, Germany, lives and works in Hamburg, Germany) artworks are surrealist assemblages composed of used-up everyday objects. Brinkmann created the edition Mappelpipe exclusively for the Kunstverein in Hamburg – a word that functions like a rhythm and can be found in the ten unique works: At first sight, they appear almost identical, but, similar to a quiz, one can gradually recognize that something has shifted, has been added or relocated. Brinkmann is a player who turns found and discarded things into new image worlds that function as an interrogation of art and its effects, while captivating the viewer with a peculiar poetry of their own.
