FORT

Spoons, 2018

1200* Euro

The duo FORT, consisting of Alberta Niemann (*1982 in Bremen) and Jenny Kropp (*1978 in Frankfurt am Main), creates subtly distant scenarios with their works. Vacillating between poetic, humorous and eerie moments, FORT's installations often play with a feeling of emptiness and abandonment. The two artists use adapted everyday objects that open up a field of tension between recognition and alienation in the exhibition space.

The photographs called Spoons show two peanut flips arranged in pairs on differently colored carpets. The artists have lovingly arranged the snacks on the fluffy background so that they remind one of an intimately entwined couple of lovers, which is also supported by the title, which alludes to the spoon position. The intimacy of the scene is further emphasized by the small format chosen. At the same time, the detail of the picture makes the cuddling snacks appear somewhat lost on the much larger carpet, with which FORT adds a moment of fragility to the work.
