There are only a few gestural movements Daniel Lergon (*1978 in Bonn, lives in Berlin,) puts on the canvas - the abstract forms arising leave much space for an image area being unspoiled. However, it is not just a simple artistic gesture on a blank surface but a complex interplay of image surface and pictorial space that we are looking at. Lergon integrates physical reactions in his work, creating an interaction between the motif and its background.
The editions for the Kunstverein have copper and zinc as a base, on which Lergon paints with water. Even something like a colorless apply generates its trace in dialogue with the ground and creates very own appearances of forms.
