Cory Arcangel (*1978 Buffalo, New York) uses various computer programmes and games, different elements of internet culture, as well as pop and experimental music in his works. He often processes all these elements in programmes he has designed himself. In the end, these construction processes result in video installations, internet projects, music performances, but also drawings, sculptural works and installations that explore the relationship between (entertainment) culture and technology. Arcangel is not only interested in current trends in the entertainment industry, but he also reflects on the rapid obsolescence of technologies and codes. His work explores the characteristics of cultural production and consumption within a media and technology saturated world.
Arcangel has been included in the following exhibitions, among others: Art Projects Ibiza (2017), Reykjavik Art Museum, Reykjavik (2015), Herning Museum of Contemporary Art, Denmark (2014), Fondation DHC/Art, Montreal (2013), Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh (2013).
