She was considered "the most important art critic of 2014" (Spike), but the following year it was over: fed up with the smooth functioning by which "the wasteland of contemporary art" was administered, Annika Bender turned her back on the art world and declared her death as a critic. The accompanying farewell speech broke with the illusion of seriously disrupting this hustle and bustle with the means of anonymized art criticism. Because that was also Annika Bender: a pseudonym. Now the two artists who hid behind it have passed it on and multiplied the identity of the critic. On September 7, 2021 Annika Bender will rise from the grave for an epilogue - and explain why death doesn't make anything better and why the art world still isn't worth living for.
"Death of a Critic" was published in 2017 by Sternberg Press.
